Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Alyeâs parents are falling down on their job of giving her her basic sense of self-esteem. I know the 8th grade is a time of life when weâre especially sensitive to our peers, but a young girl as appealing as Alye should certainly have a good basic sense of self-worth by then.
But her parentsâ failure is nothing compared to those of the bulliesâ. Habitual bullies have self-esteem issues, too, severe ones, and act them out in cruelty perpetrated on others. In what kind of household is this behavior accepted or condoned?
@coltish1 Alyeâs parents could be doing the very best they know how; incessant bullying can transcend all home support, and I know whereof I speak. Not every kid grows up with Ward and June Cleaver.
That illusion featured prominently in the movie âTemple Grandin,â which I recommend without qualifications. An amazing story of what sheer tenacity can do in the face of astonishing obstacles.
I think the Russians did that once when they captured a Polish pretender to the throne. They stuffed him in a cannon and shot him in the general direction of Poland. Donât remember if he was dead or alive when they lit the fuse. Ahh the good old days!
I donât think itâs an issue of skill and talent, but that yodeling is not a pleasant sound to many people even when done by an expert..
On the other hand, bagpipes and violins make sounds that are very pleasant to many people, but very unpleasant when not well-played. So poor violin players and bagpipe players do get made fun of for their lack of talent.
Teresa, you must have seen the anniversary of the introduction of Swansonâs pioneering TV dinner. I believe they came out the first week of April, 1953. What they lacked in flavor and freshness they made up for by forming a new low point in our TV culture.
I am very pleased to see that the reruns have run their course. I fear that Classic Rotifer was about to head into lasagna territory, and I dreaded the thought of reliving those awful times.

P.S. GoComics stole my avatar. Looks like they got Allenâs and Alanâs and Margâs and others too.

I want to be cremated so my ashes will mingle with the grate.
Actually I want to be donated to a med school so they can cut me, sew me, cut me, sew me. Better my corpse than your kids living body.

If I were to die I would like my ashes strewn about our garden, but I plan on breaking the cycle of death as being inevitable.

People make fun of yodelers, but to be that good at it takes a lot of skill and talent.

One of the first principles in data processing says that if everything seems to be going all right, then you have obviously overlooked something.
I guess this must apply with Gocomis. It never missed a beat uploading your reruns, Ms T.
BTW, I really appreciated it that you thought enough of your loyal readers to provide those re-runs during your hiatus! That was most thoughtful.
