Why would Andi want to sit through an opera with someone who hates it? Wouldn’t it be far better to take a friend who would also enjoy it? I know people like this who force their significant other to do things they hate and I simply don’t get it.
One of our sons was into romantic gestures but didn’t have much money. He set up a small table in our music room with candles, china, the works. Then I cooked a fancy looking dinner for two and voila-anniversary dinner for the girlfriend with no cost to him. Andi would probably do the same.
Don’t be stupid….tell Denise you can get the tickets and see what she says. She might love it and think you are so debonair and more…..or she might say she doesn’t like opera ……you can’t lose.As for the jewelry go to a regular jewelry store. Some not all have payment plans where you can pay off what you buy. Get her a nice simple necklace….many have 10kt along with 14kt….many 10kt items are very nice and a lot less money. Now for those that say “you don’t know that” I DO I worked in a jewelry store for 13 years.
I put our two tickets on the windshield when I went to the store, hoping someone else would take them. When I came back a couple of hours later, there were four more tickets on the windshield.
That joke also works with tickets for several sports teams… and accordions.

After nearly five months in the World of Covid I’d love to go see the opera.
