The past five months have been a huge learning experience. It’s as if we’ve been conducting a worldwide experiment to see how well we would deal with an alien invasion. It’s still going on, data are beginning to come in, and the preliminary results are not encouraging. Creating humans was not Evolution’s best idea. Should have hung it up after dinosaurs.
We’ll come back from this. I am optimistic that we will have vaccines and/or treatments available by the end of this year (or early 2021). In the meantime, schools will reopen fully in some parts of the country (MA & CT), other parts of the country will split between schoolroom learning and distance learning. But I remain hopeful that we will move on from this and recover. In the meantime, let’s remember to mask up and social distance. Things ultimately went back to normal after the Spanish flu, right?
That Alternate Reality most of us have been living in is the same one those Flat Earthers say is the one that’s Real, when in fact it’s the one created for us by our naturally limited perceptions.
Yes, kids under age 10 are less likely to get COVID, but the risk is still there. The youngest Florida victim was recently announced and she was nine. Meanwhile:

The numbers of alternate realities are infinite and overlapping. This is our most recent transition. There will be others.

If you’ve ever wondered what you’d have done in 1930s Germany, you’re doing it now.

It’s not very often there are no adults in this strip. It’s refreshing for some reason.
