Jon: Busy day.
Garfield: Don't I know it!
Jon: It seems like the harader I work, the behinder I get.
Garfield: One of the other cats called in sick.
Jon: Are you listening to me?
Garfield: So I had to take two naps AT THE SAME TIME!
“Behinder” is kind of a Pennsylvania Dutch term & has been around for decades, as a few others mentioned. I also have heard it as "the hurrier I go, the behinder I get.

° REFLECTION about: ˹Complain-Complain normally means being insatisfied about someone or something. before you do it. ask yourself, what do I gain with that? Does it brings me a positive impulse to do something better? -When you complain, first, be sure to bring a solution and a positive attitude.-Complain may be a tool to grow and know more of yourself rather than an irreflective reaction.

Shouldn’t that be two naps in succession? That’s a double shift

“Two naps? that brings up an existential question…” While napping, he dreams of napping.

Indeed Lewreader. That has expression and variants have been around longer than dirt. Or at least the 1950s or so.
I am most familiar with it as: “The hurrieder I go the behinder I get.”
Woody157 over 13 years ago
@ TexTech - I understand “The hurrieder I go…” the smaller ‘is Lubbock in my rear view mirror.’
In this case ‘smaller’ equals ‘happiness’.
