Sad, isn’t it? Could be coming soon to a town near you.

Speaking of footwear, I heard one thing the homeless need that doesn’t get donated enough is socks

Shoes are nice, but they are warmer and feel better with socks

Our local “sit across from McDonalds and beg” contingent lack credibility. Usually five sitting on the curb together, four are obese – definitely in no danger of starvation – and at least one is yakking on a cellphone.

The thing that really ticked me off when I was homeless was the number of smokers.

I know there are many scam artists pretending to be homeless. Around ten or so years ago, a newspaper in Pensacola interviewed one who claimed to make $300-500 per day. That makes me even sadder. I generally give if I see someone who looks like they need help but I realize I am also supporting lowlifes who don’t need help. I find it hard to tell the difference but I keep thinking of “Lord, when did I see you hungry?” I don’t want to not help someone in need because someone else is a scammer.

With the current health situation, I am loathe to give “dirty” money to the folks on the street. SO…we launder our money (the bills go very nicely through the washer and dryer either in a pocket or lingerie bag) and keep giving money in a clean baggie. The other alternative is grocery store gift cards which I like to give the folks who tend to ask near a grocery store.

why didn’t Trump sign an executive order that all mortgages and rents don’t have to be paid until the end of the year and the Gov’t will foot the bill. he’ll be helping all his rich friends, the landlords / banks who own the properties since he is the one who dropped the ball in his hesitance to act quickly when the virus came ashore!
