This is Elly’s own fault. If you look in yesterday’s comic strip, Elly did tell Anne to feed April a bottle to settle her down. Elly can’t blame Anne for doing exactly what she told her to do. Also, we know it’s the same day as yesterday’s comic strip because Elly is wearing the same dress.

The day when a certain platypus says something positive about the character ‘Elly’ is the day I win the Powerball Lottery…

Break out the breast pump and reload the bottle.

    Lynn’s Comments:

In a situation like this, I’d find a way to have half an hour to myself so I could stand in a hot shower and pray for relief. This is the one time when a “let down” is a very positive thing!

You should have a breast pump anyhow so you can leave milk for April.

Pay back time for not telling Annie that April is teething.

A personal coincidence: yesterday, while looking for some document, we came across my wife’s certificate as a lactation counselor, from when she worked as a post-partum nurse. Then we moved from Phoenix to Flagstaff, a change that was most dear to her, and that certification faded into history as her job opportunities were restricted to a nursing home. What strange paths we take.

This is obviously a “If you’re not a mother, you don’t get it” joke.

Ah, an example of the ex-hippie mode again. Controlling then, controlling now. And sanctimonious all along the way.

Why does neither Anne nor the baby seem to notice the expression on Elly’s face that we clearly see?

Right? I knew a woman who had the audacity to nurse my newborn allowing me to nap. When I woke up I was engorged and in pain. She was like “You’re welcome” All smiles not listening to the part about me being engorged and in pain… I told my now adult child whose response was, “Eww!”

Also, El probably didn’t expect Annie to give the baby a bottle so close to her arrival home. Let down happens when you see your baby, expect to see your baby or hear a baby. The milk builds up and it can get painful.
