Elly is the type who likes to be super busy. I wish I have her energy.

I love the 3rd panel where John has a big smile on his face because he thinks Elly is going to say something about how she appreciates him or at least “now I know why YOU appreciate the weekend so much, John.” You don’t expect Elly, who has been back to work just 2 days, to talk about how she much she looks forward to not having to go to work. Good laugh!!

You never miss leisure, until you haven’t time for it.

Those who insist on having it all shouldn’t complain if they then have to do it all!

How about giving credit to the help you got from John?

I’m surprised she allowed John to do those things! Usually the husband gets interrupted with an “I’ll do that!” “You’re doing it wrong!”

Followed by “How come I have to do everything around here!” “You never help!”

My daughter has 4 kids under their teens, a full time job, helps around the ranch, has a huge garden, cans vegetables, cooks all the meals for the family and the hired man (no fast food 35 miles from nowhere) and runs kids to town for piano, dance, football, wrestling, basketball, T-ball, volleyball, boy scouts & girl scouts. She also works out and is in better shape than when she played soccer in college 14 years ago. Weekends are for catching up on how far behind she got during the week. I don’t know how she has time for any sleep. I couldn’t have done that for even a week. Young mothers have strengths that they were never aware of until their children and families call upon them. Us guys are so lucky to have them.

When did Liz go to the skating rink? In the first panel, she’s only doing her homework? Did Lucia’s Mom come and pick her up?

Sounds to me like Ellie is being passive aggressive in an effort to guilt him. She lists everything she did, only mentioning one thing he did, ignoring the fact that he also worked all day, ran his own business, paid the bills, did home maintenance, etc.

There you go. One thing at a time and team work will get you far enough to look back and think about these as the “good old days”.

Tell you what, Elly… another thing you better not take for granted is having people close by, whom you trust, who are willing to babysit your kids for free. That is a luxury that many parents simply don’t have….. either their family lives too far away, or they can’t/won’t babysit, or you trust no one who is close by. Just count your lucky stars!

Her life sound like hell to me. I’m glad I was able to stay home and take care of my kids. We didn’t have to buy designer clothes or get a new car every three years.

She took him to basketball but didn’t pick him up? I hope he got a ride home or the tomorrow’s strip will be her waking up in the middle of the night panicked that she completely forgot to pick him up! ha ha!!

Man, you got it EASY!! When I was your age, I had to work 25 hours ago and get up before I went to bed. IF I even had a bed, which I didn’t!
