This morning at 5:30 there was a huge white moon to the right of me and a huge blood red sun coming up to the left of me. I just stood there for a few minutes and admired them both. Well I couldn’t actually look at the sun except for a second, but still…
The rest of the week will be cooler, I can sleep a half hour later, yay!
National Underwear Day. Does underwear really need it’s own day?
National Work like a Dog Day. I was planning on taking it kind of easy today – at least until I get my car back from the mechanic. Then I get to go to my garden to pick more green beans and sweet corn.
National Oyster Day. I’ll let Oliver have the oysters if he’d like them. They’re not for me.
I drove my car up to the mechanic last night so they could maybe start work on it first thing in the morning today. They have a key drop for that. My dash cam was running as I drove up there, I don’t know how well you’ll be able to hear the horrible sounds my car was making (especially the brakes) but here is the video. Please excuse the fact I was talking out loud to myself in a few spots here. I was alone in the car and I do have a tendency to think out loud a lot. So here is part of my drive to the mechanic
My cats get their treats each evening at dusk, and each one goes to his special place away from the others to wait – a bench, a ladder, and an old pine box. We will finally be under 100 today, 96 will feel cool by comparison.
My daughter and I picked a garden cart almost full of apples today. Then we started cutting them into quarters and cooking them, using a Foley Mill to turn them into applesauce. We only used about a third of them and got nearly 3 gallons of applesauce. So we stopped. I will be freezing the applesauce in 3 cup amounts for making applesauce muffins and quick bread. The rest of the apples may be calling my name tomorrow. But I may give them away.
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Bart heard Groundskeeper Willie’s tractor calling to him. That did not end well for Bart. (Or Superintendent Chalmers, either, for that Matter.) Hopefully, things will go better for Oliver. On another note, saw a dragonfly and two rabbits while out walking today.

I like treats, too Oliver, but I’m sure my taste in treats differs some from yours. I’m thinking more like ice cream and cookies and things like that.
