If he’s in first grade, how did Calvin even get past kindergarten when it came to knowing his numbers?

Calvin can’t even follow the rules to do a fun activity.

I’d rather just draw the picture unguided in my own style

That’s just the way the universe works, Calvin!

You can connect them in reverse order (high to low) to get the same picture.

It will surely better than many overvalued paintings we can see in museums .

And we all have to live by them.

Does Calvin know the numbers? He is not good in math!!

Don’t worry Calvin, ‘rules’ days are numbered.

When I was that age my family were so refined and pretentious, that they told me to just connect the prime numbers. The common numbers were so passé.

He just does not like to follow the rules :-)

Even if you didn’t follow the instructions, you still got a picture. But your own standards of aesthetics are not allowing you to accept it. Now, who’s got rules, rules, rules?

Wait until you’re old enough, Cal…then you can get those adult colouring books. :D

A good lesson. Sometimes it is just as much work to do something wrong as it is to do it right.

Actually Calvin, the whole point of the book was to keep you quiet for a little while. Worth every penny too.

He gets the wrong answer to adding 5 + 6. Would you expect anything different….

One of the few things my childhood lacked compared with today’s kids are coloring book apps. Those paint-by-numbers things we had were just drudgery.

My older son had NO INTEREST in coloring books. He wanted BLANK paper! When someone gave him one, he drew on the blank inside covers, then gave it to his brother.

Calvin and Hobbes was my favorite when I was younger. Calvin was woke only because of Hobbes…

Rules are for conformists.

Wasn’t paying attention to the teeny, tiny numbers.

Calvin is a creative. Rules get in our way.

Rules separate us from the (stuffed) animals…..or what separates them from us.
