I’m with Trout on this one. Smelling rocks is beyond my pay grade.

The comics are in visible for me this morning. I don’t think my comment would be though. Strange.

Trout nailed it actually, rocks smell like chalk.

Is this some form of synesthesia?

To David, rocks smell like victory.

SMELL THE ROCK (TONIGHT)

Hear the rock! Can you hear it? I wanna hear the rock tonight!

Feel the rock! Can you feel it? I wanna feel the rock tonight!

See the rock! Can you see it? I wanna see the rock tonight!

Taste the rock! Can you taste it? I wanna taste the rock tonight!

Smell the rock! Can you smell it? I wanna smell the rock tonight!

Then it just repeats for eight minutes, and everyone gets an instrumental solo. Not the most imaginative lyrics, but it’s a rousing opening number.

“Aww, you got rocks in your… nose…” ☺

There’s even a word for it: “petrichor”. (Technically, water on rocks, but close enough.)

It’s like the people who talk about the “smell of space”. It’s actually the smell of burnt propellants and outgassing plastics – not space.

They smell like rocks. What’s so hard for her to describe?

If you can smell a rock, it might not BE a rock — especially if you are in a cow pen.
