Let me see if I can figure out the dialog from what’s visible.
“Paper or satin?”
“I don’t know, do you have anything made from pine needles?”
“You don’t care how many trees grow in Brooklyn?”
“Or that the cartoonist may run out of black ink?”
“If you weren’t so secretive, people wouldn’t have to guess what you were saying.”
The preceding free association was brought to you courtesy of GoComics, and the late Jerry Bittle, who is in no position to protest what they are doing to his comics.
We all knew this was coming, couple of days ago it was at 30%, today probably 85. It’s all to do with the phase of the moon.. and, if the wind is from the East.
The prevailing thought is that whoever had the job of scanning copies of the comic into digital format for use on GoComics had a faulty scanner or scanning software or put them into the scanner incorrectly, and didn’t notice or didn’t care. Probably good copies exist, but are controlled by the Copyright Holders. Some months ago, it appeared that GoComics was attempting to not “Publish” the faulty comics, as some days simply were not posted, but this is the first one that is almost completely un-readable. My thought is that perhaps only the ones that are completely black are not posted…

Yesterday’s was partly blocked out. I don’t think it’s censorship. Maybe a glitch?

Go to the archives for the date; 11/17/2000. Full strip is there. Tried to cut and paste the link but this site won’t allow it.

As Walter Parmantle points out above, the original 11/17/2000 strip is FINE!
