Although rice cakes are edible enough has holders for something else, say peanut butter, Nutella, or cheese, they aren’t something I could see ordering at a diner.
Although come to think of it, if this is the one diner we know of in this town, I can’t see eating there at all. I don’t need lunch that badly.
I use the Quaker® No Salt variety, & have tried several methods to enhance their blandness. The most successful has been to drown them in boiling tomato sauce which “softens” the blow, making them easier to chew, & taking on the flavor of the delicious sauce. Puttingketchup or mustard on them with cold cuts makes them more tolerable as well.

Put peanut butter and jam on it – lots of peanut butter and jam.

I tried the cinnamon ones and they were just as bad. Waste of money.

The wife brought home some dill pickle flavored rice cakes the other day, not bad.

That’s why so many of them are loaded with high calorie sweet coatings. They are a paradoxical combination of air and roughage. :)
