Common misconception Trout. The States not the Feds control education. The Feds can only spend boundless money to influence what the states decide.
For whatever reason, looking ahead at 20 years is a lot more time than looking back on 20 years. I guess in looking back you are selective about what you remember.
I was fit to be tied when I discovered at the end of June that I had to go back to school in September – and do it again for another 11 years!
Whatever it really is, sometimes it seems like twenty-four years.
I guess it seems like 20 years while you’re doing it. My grandson graduated last year and said it all seems like a dream now.
That last panel shows why they still need to go to school.
They both need remedial math.
My granddaughter was to have gone to pre-K this year. Her mother decided that might be unwise with COVID-19 killing thousands and thousands.
Since my wife had a master’s degree in education and some 32 years experience, they decided to set up a classroom in our house for her.
She would have started last week like the rest of Escambia County, but hurricane possibility made her decide to delay.
Today is her first day. We will see how it goes.
Some golden oldies I remember from my joke books for kids, on the subject of school:
______________________________________________________
I don’t hate school, it’s the principal of the thing.
“How was school today?”
“Boring.”
“Well, maybe it’ll be more fun tomorrow.”
“You mean I have to go again?”
“What happened on your first day of school?”
“Nothing much, some lady wanted to know how to spell ‘cat,’ so I told her.”
Kid to Teacher: “I don’t want to scare you, but my Dad said if that if my grades don’t improve, somebody’s in for a whipping.”
