“I have no idea to this day what that English pop artist and Italian tenor were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. I like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can’t be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it.”

    Happy Tuesday, Crew.

“I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.”

Pavarotti sang as part of the same performance with lots of other people, but he rarely sang with them. His voice so gloriously overmatches almost anyone else’s that instead of achieving the fine blend of sound that marks a true duet, he usually just blows them away. In the duet linked to above, Elton John does a fine job of rising to the occasion, singing much better than usual, but suffers the same fate as many others and accepts it gracefully. Well done, Sir John.

Interesting info about this music. I love the intertwining of the notes in the last panel, too.

    ’Evening, Crew.

    This isn’t a duet, but it’s a double act. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWbqCvD1Xow
