In 1980, we had a young Engineer, good looking guy. Every morning he would anounce he was looking for some hot buns for breakfast. He’d pat backsides and announce the “winner” every morning.
We also had an older gentlemen, one of the best X-Ray and ultrasonic inspectors in the world. But at his advanced age, his eyesight was poor, he had cataracts, and his wife had to drive him to work, since he could no longer drive, and I am sure his other drive was equally supressed.
This man had to feel his way to the stairs, and hold the hand rail with both hands to go up to the rest room. One day, he was stumbling along, and he groped one of the Steno gals – she was in front of him on the stairwell. As soon as he realized he was not holding the rail, he pulled back and apologized. Everybody on the floor laughed about it – but he was genuinely embarrased and sorry.
She complained, she didn’t like the talk at her expense. He was disciplined and later let go, Security footage was kind of vague, it looked to us like he was just looking for the stairs, and you could definetely see that once he touched her, he jumped back. But this gal claimed it was much more than that.
The next morning she won the “hot buns” contest. She never complained about that, and she had previously won it many times. At the Xmas party, some of us asked her what she would have done if that was Tom, the young engineer. She said, “Are you kidding me Tom’s so cute, if it was him, he wouldn’t be able to walk for a week!”
