April looks like she has completely missed her mouth every time. There is nothing around her lips. When my kids fed themselves for the first time, they didn’t hit their mouth every time, but enough so that they got fed. After this meal, April is still going to be hungry.
I know how April feels. Some times the frozen peas go in the salad and sometimes they go, in a bag, on the back of my neck. You gotta put your food where it feels the best(or at least most interesting).Lets not even talk about caramel.
I remember a great black comedian who said that children April’s age must get their nutrition absorbed through the cheeks because they never seem to hit their mouths.
But seriously…children that age, as I recall my own, can eat pieces of banana, or bread, etc., in a fairly clean fashion, unless they decide to squish them in their tiny fists, that is.
I remember when I was feeding my babies, I had to keep the bowl away from them too, otherwise, their hands would find their way into the bowl and they would start to play with the porridge, and when that happened I knew they had enough in their tummies……

April is not yet old enough to feed herself, obviously. Someone needs to feed her until she has the motor skills necessary to do it herself.

I am once again reminded that parenting is not a job for the faint hearted. My hat is off to the moms and dads out there.
