Um, Ernie—we can see it’s a safety pin. No need to label it, unless in a speech balloon from Sluggo.

Could have been worse, Sluggo. You could have sat on a pin from a hand grenade with the hand grenade beside it.

Two points for today’s comic.

Ernie was ahead of his time. He knew that when this comic was rerun in 2023, kids wouldn’t know what a safety pin was. However, he didn’t realize that no kids would be reading the comics in 2023.

Sluggo got the point in the end!
