Terrorists continue to plot against free nations and the fight continues. This, however, was a crippling blow to the psyche of Al Qaeda, now reduced to scattered bands of relatively ineffective players. There will be some activity, but I am glad the figurehead is gone.
George could wear a flight suit. He had flown the planes. Was it schmaltzy? Yes, but the airmen loved it.
As far as getting the job done, the job was started by George Bush and the intel was garnered by using the techniques that Mr. O and the dems had spent so much time smearing.
I think the credit can be shared here folks. This is a strike for America and the free world, and many had a part, not the least of which were the SEALS. This is not a time for partisan sympathies but for American pride.
Bush did not in fact fly the plane. It was purely staging.
Torture is not an effective method of gathering information, and Rumsfeld was quoted at one point saying that it produced incorrect intelligence about this event as well as correct.
Obama took the approach that Bush’s team explicitly did not: using intelligence and espionage rather than rolling in troops. Bush could have done this; he did not.
Since you started the partisan sympathies (“Mr. O and the dems had spent so much time smearing”) at least you can be accurate about your details.
So I guess the current administration obtained this information on a Ouija board. The info couldn’t have been 5 years old. Are West Point cadets still required to read Caesar?
…as a canadian following the events of the past week, i’ve been rather appalled at the level of vitriol aimed at president obama, especially, for some reason, regarding his visit to ground zero; i would EXPECT the sitting president to attend there. I had always thought americans were proud of their ability to respect the office of the president, whether or not they voted for, or even liked, the person who had won the latest election. Was I being naive, or have attitudes changed that drastically over the past 20 years or so?
It would be interesting if the Navy had attempted to launch an F-102 Delta Dagger from a carrier BratRat. George W. Bush flew F-102s. Convair experimented with a seaplane version but one of them blew up during a test flight. I believe three were built, some with two skies and some with one.
I can’t get too worked up about this, but unnecessary extra-judicial killing runs contrary to our declared values as a society, and I tend to think abandoning one’s principles for the sake of emotional satisfaction is a bad idea, no matter how good it makes us feel.

And President Obama didn’t even dress up in a flight suit and pretend he was a pilot. He just accomplished the mission.

Using that same logic, that makes Obama solely responsible for our current economic miseries.

Granted it was kind of a cheap stunt, if you fly a jet fighter, you need a flight suit.

W shut the search down, too bust trashing Iraq and putting pallettes of millions of bucks where Halliburton could just abscond with them:
