I tried to calculate how many people that would be. If all of the children, grand children, and great grand children were married and if you just add the great great grand children, you could have about 585 people at the event.

Loretta Lynn, the country and western singer, was a grandmother by the age of 34. Bet she is a tatarabuela by now. She was born in 1932. She only had 6 children.

There have actually been quite a few memorial services in stadiums lately. Mainly so the people can spread out for social distancing.

And that isn’t even necessarily all of her descendants, just those who have survived her, right? There may have been others who she had outlived. And since it didn’t mention her husband as being among those who survived her, I assume he passed away before her.

So 307 attendees at the memorial service at Milpas High School as a minimum, plus their spouses, assuming all of the surviving descendants attend. Not enough info to guesstimate how many spouses there might be – not all offspring of each generation may have married, and not all spouses may still be alive.

My great aunt, on most days, sees her granddaughter’s granddaughter.

And (not so) Fine Stine would say, “How did she raise 16 children?”

We had a Messinger reunion a while back. I have 500 identified cousins.

One thing I miss about not getting a morning paper anymore is reading the obits. Always found a interesting life to read about.

Good grief! Sixteen kids, and on and on. With people like that, it’s no wonder zero population growth seems doomed.

She was obviously a Good Catholic woman.
