I can just picture the letters page editor at the newspaper looking at a non-emailed submission, wondering who he can find on staff to key it into the system.
That way they had time to think about what they were putting on paper, instead of the #knuckleheads that comment without engaging their brains. :-) # See Frank and Earnest :-)
Do editors even read paper mail anymore? I guess the ones that have secretaries could have it scanned.. OCRed and then forwarded as an email.. then the editor can read it on his smartphone.
My HS Creative Writing teacher said if we ever got anything published to bring it back & she’d change the grade to an A. Twice (in the last forty[cough] years) I’ve had letters in the LATimes, but honestly the writing quality is still about B-, at best.
