In school we had to draw a landscape with cows in it. But I couldn’t draw cows. So I made the head of the cow or the tail or one foot looking out from the edge of the drawing sheet!!The sheet was full of parts from cows!!
Brilliant. But it won’t fool Miss Wormwood for a minute. She will recognize it immediately as something Calvin just slapped together in five minutes the night before.
As you’ve probably realised from my earlier comments, I am a big Chuck Jones fan. I have a copy of his autobiography “Chuck Amuck” and a copy of “Good Grief – The Authorised Biography of Charles M. Schulz”. Chuck Jones is credited as “Charles M. Jones” on most of his Warner Bros cartoons as the two main producers didn’t allow the use of nicknames.
Both Charles M. Jones and Charles M. Schulz were interested in the relationship between success and failure and saw large comedy potential in it. Both cartoonists were highly influential on Bill Watterson.
One day last week, I commented that I prefer the strips were Calvin gets the better of Moe and someone replied that they are as rare as Charlie Brown’s victories at baseball. I disagree. As far as I know, Charlie Brown only won two baseball games in fifty years. Calvin had at least five victories over Moe in ten years.

If Calvin avoids mention roadrunner, the teacher might be OK with clouds.

Chuck Jones would be proud of Calvin for thinking that.

So, where’s Wile E Coyote? Even more so, why do we pronounce coyote as we do? What is the Colonel of truth?

Golden Oldie:
Kid (in art class, with a blank sheet of paper): “It’s a picture of a cow eating grass.”
Teacher: “Where’s the grass?”
“The cow has eaten it all.”
“Where’s the cow?”
“You don’t think she’d be silly enough to hang around once the grass is all gone, do you?”

I have a sneaking suspicion that the diorama also contains a coyote and a 500 pound weight…

Actually, not a bad idea Calvin. I also suspect that todays teachers would give him a trophy and throw a parade for him.

Well, this would be understood only by the teacher with artistic bent of mind. We accept Calvin as intellectual genius and an artistic genius as well.
