I use my “Smart Phone” for phone calls only. No texting, no browsing, no games, no maps, no other stupidity. Isn’t that why they call it a “phone”. And last of all.. I have NEVER taken a “selfie”. Narcissism at its worst.
I got a cell phone years ago to have with me in case of an eremergency. I recently called my road side service due to a flat tire and they directed me to their web site! Fortunately I was within walking distance to my home so I was able to use my computer. It’s to the point that you need a smart phone with you at all times. I really don’t want the expense of a smart phone. Plus, I’m not some one who needs to be in contact with the outside world 24 hours a day.
Remember the first tv remote with a cord attached to the tv?I thought that was as good as it could get. Lol Now my DVR can record 6 shows at once, tho I’ve never done that. My first radio was AM only, and I was thrilled. Those were the days, as they say.

Teledigitus? Tele meaning “at a distance” from the Greek, digitus meaning “Digit” or unit of communication from the Latin?

The device she is holding contains a two-way radio, not a telephone. At least, not by the classic definition of a telephone. I know: picky, picky.

I thought people called it a mobile device. but that doesn’t sound sexy either.

We should have kept the name “PDA” — Personal Digital Assistant.

In Germany they said “Handy” when it was just a mobile phone. Now some are starting to call them “Smartphones”.

I had to make a phone call the other day and it took me a while to work out how I actually do that.
