Good one. I am still trying to think who in 2020 still takes paper checks? I pay with plastic or electronic bank transfer from the grocer to a fast food restaurant’s cup of coffee. Even the taxman takes Visa nowadays.
Lots of companies would rather you pay with a check. Do you have any idea how much VISA charges retailers? It’s like 1.5 to 2.5% but can be as high as 3.5%.
I don’t know. I think, because of the pandemic, we’ve looked at everything more negatively, but some good things did happen. Space X and NASA sent astronauts to the ISS and back. I found out that my husband and I can cut one another’s hair with fairly good results, and never before have I been so thankful for the technology we have to communicate with each other, plus the ability to order just about everything one might need. I’m sure most people can find many other good things if they dig deeply enough.
2019 was bad for me too. Found out I had cervical cancer. Left my job, went through 100s of blood tests, and finally had the surgery to remove it. Luckily it had not spread. The worst part of 2019 was being unemployed from June through the end of the year and into 2020. Finally went back to work during the pandemic. Been working since April.

Most paper money, says “This bill is legal tender”. In theory it cannot be refused. In theory.

Totally sums up this year. Must have been writing out the check for something good too, as never fun to write checks. ;)

My hairdresser takes cash or checks. No credit cards for her.

This had to have been drawn prior to this past Saturday, right?

I live in Mexico, in Mexico City to be precise. Here almost no one has or uses checks: it’s either cash or credit/debit cards.
