The ghost of umpires to come.

Not sure I understand why he didn’t just catch it. It would have been an out whether it was fair or foul.

No wonder he didn’t recognize her, she was fully dressed….

What do you suppose happens when they play team sports that require more players than there are human characters in the strip? I think there may have been strips where some of the larger animals play (not sure), but that still doesn’t add up to two teams of 9, or 11 for football. Maybe they have guests from other strips who aren’t shown because of copyright concerns. Or maybe the people across the water to whom Peter sends his floating letters send a team.
