You sometimes see Little Grebes which in Winter Plumage could be mistaken for Ducklings, but they’d be hiding pretty quickly with people/dogs that close
It makes me think of the guy whose vehicle got stuck in the too deep water, who said (while pointing at his mid-section): “I thought it was shallow! It only came up to here on the ducks!”.
