I’ve tried Tofurkey, and it really is terrible. And I actually like tofu! Some people must like it because it is still on the market. There are definitely better options out there. (The Tofurkey Jerky that came with it was, on the other hand, actually good.)
I can’t help but guess that folks who poke fun at Tofurky® are totally unfamiliar with it, and pass by its expansive product line in grocery stores completely unawares. I have a package of their savory spinach pesto “sausage” in my refrigerator waiting to become part of today’s meal. No turkeys will be harmed in the making.
My question is why, when there are so many other ways to use soybeans, do people only talk about tofu? I’ve never had tofu but have added soybean dry products to other dishes to provide bulk, and it absorbs the flavor of whatever it’s cooked with.

Tofu can be tasty, but it can’t be meat.

This is a rerun, but I love it as much as when it was new! We had a Tofurkey instead of Turkey one year. Everybody was in pain that evening.

Yes- how do I over-ride the “gag reflex” when attempting to eat it?
