I will probably get a lot of hate for this, but when I was a boy I hated the Gazoo character. I quit watching the Flintstones after he showed up.

I always listed Quisp better than Quake.

I have to admit my first thought was “Quisp!”, too, but I was never that into the Flintstones. 10 Obscurity points for John and Scott! (Yes, that’s a good thing! :) )

I rarely watched the Flintstones after the first couple of years, so my first thought was The Jetsons!

Scott, everyone keeps forgetting that the late great Harvey Korman voiced the character of ‘The Great Kazoo’. I remember, many years ago, Harvey Korman was on a talk show, I think it was Merv Griffin, not sure, but the host mentioned all of Harvey’s accomplishments and mentioned that he also voiced that character, ‘The Great Kazoo’, on the Flintstone’s. Harvey looked a bit shocked and said that he did do that voice, and then the audience came out with a roar of applause. You could tell that Harvey was touched by their reaction. So, even though that character was on for just one season, the last, it seems that ‘The Great Kazoo’ has an endearing memory for most people.

I didn’t know that The Great Gazoo was green (no color TV until much later in life).

re: color verse B&W — I was in my mid-twenties and engaged to my soon to be husband and we were watching the Wizard of Oz. My husband caught the look on my face and started laughing. I had just discovered that Oz was in color! I had watch that movie every year for years and never realized there was a change from sepia Kansas to rainbow colorful Oz! I was blown away. (and that was back in the early 80’s, so not really that long ago)
