You are right, Calvin. For the record, there is no recorded evidence of the Noodle Incident. So your track record, as far as Santa goes, as as clean as driven snow.
Calvin seems to think he was very good in 1990 compared to other years. However, the year 1987 in which I started reading Calvin and Hobbes may have been the year in which we saw the most of his caring side. That was the year of the Baby Raccoon story arc and also the year in which Calvin picked up a can which someone else had dropped and looked for a litter bin for it. During the search, he complained about pollution in general and compared individuals dropping litter with governments and corporations dumping toxic waste.
Someone commented yesterday that my username and my comments suggest that I take this strip very seriously. It is my favourite comic strip because it still makes me laugh out loud at its reprints and because it often tackles serious issues. I discovered this site in late 2015 when I looked up Calvin and Hobbes on google due to the strip’s thirtieth anniversary which quickly followed the thirtieth anniversary of “Back To The Future”.
Since Calvin and Hobbes is my favourite strip and led to my discovery of Go Comics, I chose Calvinist as part of my username. Other commentators have used similar usernames including “Calvin”, “Ca;lvin’s Brother” and “The Calvinosaurus That Calvin Wanted To Discover”.
very out of date. Today’s president can brag about his immorality and still be beloved by his fans. Will greed and stupidity become the majority position of our country? Even our rejection of orange satan was razor thin.
My favorite “noodle incident” memory… some years ago my family was on a road trip. My brother was driving and I was up front while our parents were reading/napping in the back. Out of the blue, my brother said, “Did it ever show the noodle incident?” I just said, “no, it’s just referred to.” I didn’t even need to ask what he was talking about!
Does anyone remember that old Christmas special about this greedy little kid who made a half mile long list to Santa? I think his name was Jiminny Creek or something? When Santa got the list he couldn’t believe a single child could ask for all of it so they concluded it must have been a town, and when they double checked the map they found a small town with the same name that wasn’t on Santa’s normal route and they took all the gifts there, making national news the next day. I don’t know if that special came out before or after this comic, but now I’m wondering if there is a small forgotten town of “Calvin” somewhere that’s about to get a windfall.
Part of me wants to know what, exactly, happened in the Noodle Incident … for curiosity’s sake. More of me, though, thinks not knowing makes the incident even better.

Good thing the noodle incident happened before everyone had a cellphone camera to record everything.

I wasn’t there when it happened, you cannot prove I did it and in any case, it’s neither illegal nor immoral. Messy though.

Or, as Bart Simpson put it, “I didn’t do it, nobody saw me do it, you can’t prove I did it!”

Ah, so Hobbes is a manifestation of Calvin’s superego (“conscience” to you unscientific types), got it.

There was the “Salamander Incident” also. Not mentioned as much but at least Cal admitted to TSI. Blamed temporary insanity.

How convenient for Calvin that there were no witnesses to the noodle incident. That’s a sign of very good planning and execution.
