as much as my fellow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abstain from coffee, I still stand the smell thereof either before or after it’s roasted and brewed

I bearly consume coffee.

If it is yesterday just add more sugar. It will still wake you up.

A cup a day is fine by me :-)

Never a chance to g6et stale at our house. My Lady Wife and I would go through 2 pots a day (with both of us working) at home and I would have 6-8 (6 oz) cups a day at work. ALWAYS fresh coffee.

Coffee consumption dropped dramatically since I retired. Single cup coffee maker works now.

No. Just no. Fresh coffee is required before I consider waking up.

I have seen a few interstate gas station “quick shops” that have a row of those Bunn coffee makers, and they each have a digital timer on them. The clerk makes the coffee and sets the timer for around 90 minutes. When the timer goes off, they dump what’s left and make a fresh pot. BTW, most of those places will give you a refill price for your coffee if you use your own travel mug instead of one of their disposable cups.

“Radio coffee” expires after it loses half its volume due to evaporation, usually overnight. Okay if you just want a caffeine kick; horrendous if you like coffee. (The broadcast industry used to have infamous coffee when disk jockeys were required to work overnight.)

Nor is there a limit on the number of times it can be re-heated and a left over pot never goes to waste.

Is it too cold? In that case…that’s what the microwave next to the coffee pot is for.

With home brewed tea (the good stuff), it can be turned into iced tea for late consumption.

I meant “later” not “late”.

I limit myself to one 20-oz. mug of hafcaf in the morning. Since I live alone, a pot lasts 3 days.

That is true. Several days old is OK. Just add a little more sugar and milk.

There are people in this world who don’t drink coffee. I don’t any of them socially, of course. I drink coffee all day, but once it’s brewed, it goes in a carafe. Microwave to warm it up. I drink coffee all day. My partner drinks one cup a day. I don’t know how he functions.

My coffee maker will keep the coffee at just the right temp, as long as I keep cycling power every two hours, so it doesn’t shut off. There is always the microwave if I forget.

Yep. If its only a day or so old and you heat it in the nuke it kills any germs in it anyway (I hope).

Watched an old Gunsmoke rerun a while back and Chester was telling the Marshall how it took a good week of reusing grounds to build a good pot of coffee. I am not sure I can go quite that far.

If your coffee is beyond the drinking stage you can always use it as an asphalt patch.

Some of us don’t even bother to question how long it’s been sitting…

“The Left Behind Series: Pluggers Edition.”

For several years during my annual physical, my doctor has asked me how much coffee I drink in a day. I always tell her the same thing — one extended cup. Because I make it at 5 am and just keep adding to it as the day goes on. I’ve asked her if I’m supposed to cut down and she says that recent studies have shown that 2-3 cups a day is fine (I’m in the upper age bracket). I’m not sure she will say this at our next meeting. Since the pandemic, with three of us staying very much to home, I’ve been making a fresh pot at least 3 times a day.

If you can’t remember when it was brewed, you’re not drinking enough coffee. ;-p
