So Connecticut is like Michigan, the Wolverine State, which has only ever seen one wolverine.

A key concept of the Star Trek franchise was/is that different races, cultures, and sentient species could work together towards common goals and achieve wonderful things. While human nature behind the scenes didn’t exactly express that, it does make great TV and movie “comfort food” for those who think humanity should be more than an exercise in screwing each other over for profit.

Yeah… take acting career advice from MLK… now, they don’t even know her name to put it in the factoid. Or is it a factlet? That’s an interesting “Believe it or not”. They’re not the same thing but I’m not sure if that’s a factoid or a factlet :D

I like older Star Trek. The Original Series is my favorite, but I do like both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. After Voyager, the franchise just became trash! I hear from fans I rust that Picard is really good, but I’ll never know because it’s only available on a streaming service I refuse to pay extra money for!

The mantis prayed for exclusivity, and got it.

Take care, may the Amaretto of Llords be with you, and GESUNDHEIT.

She wasn’t really offered another job, she wanted to leave for another job. MLK talked her into staying because of what he believed she was doing for black people at the time. He thought she could do more “for the cause” than if she left the show. There’s a LOT of behind the scenes stuff on that show.Spocks “eyebrow raise” is a way for him to “speak” without actually having a line in the script, because William Shatner would actually count the lines to make sure that nobody had more than him. Lots of bickering too. And Rodenberry more or less forced Nemoy to sign onto his “agency”. Nemoy wanted to leave early a couple times, to go to shows and sign autographs. When he asked Roddenberry why he should pay more money to sign onto his company, Roddenberry told him “because my agency can get you off the lot at 4:00”

Lt. Uhura and Captain Kirk had the first interracial kiss on U.S. television. Ms. Nichols had many a kiss off stage with Star Trek creator Gene Rodenberry.

A middle aged man will burn 141 calories each middle of the night trip to the bathroom.

Connecticut has some of the most liberal of immigration laws in the U.S.

Long ago, my Siamese cat found a mantis out in the yard, I was with her. She was baffled at first, then intimidated a bit when the mantis flapped up its rear bits like a peacock and put up his dukes. The cat reached over one paw — cat people will know the exact gesture - a high arched reach with the toes curled over just a bit- to give an experimental tap. The mantis responded with a left jab, and it went badly for the bug after that, although it did put up a heroic defence. At one point the cat looked like she might give up, tho’ why the mantis didn’t just fly off I’ll never guess. But it was a fascinating summer day for a twelve year old city boy.

Connecticut’s state animal is the whale, of which there are few in Connecticut (Although during the 1800s Connecticut was a major whaling state. New London was, for a time, America’s second largest whaling port after New Bedford MA).

At one point, it was proposed to make the Texas two-step the state dance. I would think Connecticut people are glad that went nowhere.
