My wife used to be the Girl Scouts’ cookie mom. When the orders came in it seemed sort of like that. Also, years later, long after our daughter left the GS people would ask my wife if she had any cookies for sale.
I was in the Camp Fire Girls when the sales were going door to door to take orders and then deliver donuts. In those days, it was safe for a girl to do that by herself.
It was different in the 50’s. When I was a 12 yo tenderfoot scout I took a half dozen cub scouts on a week long camping trip in the woods – miles from civilization. No cell phones, no radios, no adults – just me and the little ones. Wouldn’t happen today.

In college my fraternity and one other were on the same block. Somehow the one Girl Scout on the block always came out as a top seller.

To be fair, there are not a whole lot of cookies in a Girl Scout Cookies box….
