My recently deceased wife and I had 2 chihuahuas and a Catahoula Leopard dog, One of the chihuahuas “listened” for my banana to be opened and would always run into the kitchen for a bite. The Catahoula was deaf and would “keep” waking up every few minutes and look around to see if anyone was eating and then want some. Sadly all of them are gone too, the last chihuahua 2 weeks ago.

Just pick up food and my dog is in the kitchen. Just in case.

The dog knows which sound connotes food.

The dog can sleep through the noise but wakes up at the sound of a piece of dog food falling on the floor. lol
