Yeah.. those do look like the hilts of swords in her hunch. The curved one could be the handle of a scimitar of some sort (I have a Turkish one that isn’t too far different)
These two perspectives are not necessarily mutually exclusive. The convergence of the two reminds me of the Robert Frost quote, “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.”
