I knew kids that really were that oblivious in elementary school. It really didn’t occur to them how much damage they were doing. the only difference was they didn’t just say mean things, they ganged up on you and beat the hell out of you. And they still do it. I lost a child because of this level of bullying.
I suffered that sort of thing a lot in school. Unfortunately I took too much of it to heart which left emotional scars which haunt me even after decades and makes it difficult for me to associate in person with other people. I wish I’d been a bit more thick skinned about it!
“I never drink alcohol! Except when I want to celebrate something, or when I want to enjoy myself or relax, or when I’m sad. But other than that, I never touch the stuff! Unless I’m, you know, thirsty.”
“It’s our thing!” This is where you realize how different Dakota and Pheobe are from each other. We always knew they were different, but Pheobe would have had a waayy different response.
You insult her all the time but you actually like her…so those don’t count. Got it. It sounds like Phoebe is supposed to magically recognize the difference between friendly teasing, currying favor with the popular crowd, and real insults.

That’s four so far. Care to add any more reasons to the list?

For a mean girl, Dakota sure isn’t a very good liar.

Phoebe is lot more mature than she’s probably given credit for! I love the way she keeps her cool around Dakota.

I think they should have Marigold cast the Shield of Boringness on Alejandra’s party.

You know, experiencing Alejandra’s teasing like this might just end up being a good thing for Dakota in the end.

Dakota’s Adagio Dazzle hair looks better and better with every strip she’s in.

Dakota. It’s time to wake up and figure out the wrong things you have done.

The famous response to all of these is, “I was just being sarcastic! Didn’t mean it!”
And then double down on the original statement.

Spreading the word. Please keep it PG at all times. I did not keep it PG and people were very nasty.

Does Marigold have a spell for that?
