Hahaha! Cower before me, salad bar clerk! Restaurant Your pay by weight system is clever, but you haven't reckon on the brilliantly calculating mind of the engineer. I've filled my bowl with nothing but cheeses, expensive dressing, cashews, and olives! Net loss to you, my friend, several dollars. Cool. Cash or credit? Later... Must... Enjoy... Terrible... Taste...

Leave out the dressings, and I’m fine. I bring my own wine and crackers.

If there’s nothing but a salad bar then the restaurant is going bust. The clerk will soon be out of a job so he doesn’t care.

Leafy greens weigh less. Dressing and cheeses are denser and heavier, so it would cost more to fill his dish.

The term “pay-by weight system” doesn’t feel right in my brain. Is it missing a hyphen or am I just not able to read anymore what with all the recent head trauma?

Whole Foods has a hot bar and many a time I’ve seen people load up their container with nothing but cooked bacon. The pay by weight price is less than for uncooked bacon AND cooked bacon weighs less than uncooked bacon. Brilliant.

Someone didn’t realize that the several dollars would not come out of the clerk’s pay.

Hmm. I remember this comic from several (a couple?) years ago. The cashier’s noncommittal reply stuck with me.
