I am reminded of when they closed Meigs Field, and Chicago was looking to build a new 3rd airport; someone proposed near Peotone (a location that, alas, is still under consideration 30 some years later), saying there’s plenty of empty land just sitting there.
To which sane people replied "We grow your food on that “empty” land!"
One summer I was a canoe guide for the Boy Scouts of America, leading them through Atikokan Provincial Park and I was amazed at how many of their leaders said the same thing. Usually at the start of the trip, a few by the end started to think differently
No, no, no, no, no! Not under-devloped, but beautifully UN-developed and hopefully destined to stay that way. In one of the California counties, there is a movement to preserve open space as the farmland it currently is. This movement is called Save Our Agricultural Resources. SOAR.
