Ahm… yep. There is a belief out there that Hans Christian Anderson wrote “The Little Mermaid” as a declaration of love for another male that he knew was going to be unrequited. That is why in the end… the Mermaid died and became sea foam… or was that an Air Fairy? Still not with the one loved.
Every artist leaves their mark on the depiction of their subject material. Only in the time of social media, though, have many people seen fit to create fiction and call it fact.
Artists have found willing subjects to paint for practice. The goal is to be good enough to have someone pay you for your work. A quick look at the finished painting will give a pretty good idea as to whether the subject of the painting was the one paying.
