I’m guessing it’s the understated Mona Lisa “smile” formed by the meeting of the upper and lower halves of the shell opposite the dorsal hinge.

It’s his pearls of wisdom.

If one goes by the full quote, happy as a clam at high tide, All three clams would be happy. Their happiness lies in the fact that they are under water and difficult to find. When the tide goes out, they will be less happy as they will be easier to dig up.
