You know, with time to think on it, I realized this was probably better in the long run. JJ was not a great wife or mom. She really wasn’t doing well in that life. Mike wound up with Kim and Alex wound up at MIT. Everyone eventually found their happy. So, her choice was deplorable, but ends worked out pretty well.
After reading the “Women like bad boys” posts, I must say that that is a gross generalization. Some girls like bad boys, and Hollywood and Harlequin romance novels have mad billions on this questionable stereotype. Some misguided souls think they can rescue someone bent on self destruction, or whatever heart-rending sob story lies in the past. Nonsense! Face it, Zeke was a burnt out loser, and he is like many of the MAGA wearing, flag waving extremist losers that converged in DC las month. Nothing attractive or “bad boy” in that behavior at all.
Are Boopsie and B.D. themselves married at this point? IIRC they got married when Boopsie got pregnant with Samantha, and while I’m fairly certain Alex is older than Samantha, I’m not sure by how many years. If Alex is (at a guess) eight at this point, does Samantha even exist yet? I guess we’ll at least get a hint once we actually enter the house. ;-)
Notice that, like Alex, Sam[antha] frequently goes by an androgynous nickname. That’s two out of two main-cast daughters, that must mean something, unless it doesn’t.
Lol so this originally was printed about 25 years ago in 1995 .. Zeke today would be that 60+ year old bald guy with a minimum wage job (if he actually had a job) with 3 divorces and still sitting in a bar hitting up on disqusted 21 year olds. lol
This is one more disastrous decision by J.J. in a lifetime of bad decisions. Albeit, it’s likely her worst decision for herself. All in all, her choice benefited both Mike amid Alex.
And he’s charming. I worked with the public at an annual festival for many years. I learned about “charming”. The most charming people are the ones who have to make an entirely new set of friends every six months . Think about that.
IMO, Zeke doesn’t even qualify for a “bad boy” role. He doesn’t expend enough energy to be “bad.” He is just a lazy leech who lives off of other people. A man can be unemployed, but trying to get a job, or very laid-back but at least coherent, and be attractive. Houses and cars and 401K’s are fine, but that’s not what I look for first in a man. Of course, I have made some bad decisions in the past. And I’ve known guys like Zeke in the past, too. That’s probably what makes my alarm go off when I see him!

Women will have to explain to me what they find attractive about a guy who looks like he needs a shower and dental appointment.

…sigh. I don’t think women’s liberation meant that they can do whatever they want, but I’m thinking it doesn’t matter what I think.

On a totally unrelated note, I like the way Trudeau draws this strip. Every panel has a different background.

There we go with that old “Women like the Bad Boys” thing.
In my experience, it’s more that they like Boys who never grew past mental age 5.
Which does sorta explain Uncle Stupidhead.
