There are migratory Canada geese, and permanent residents in western Kentucky. Yes, you have to be careful where you step.

Another (previously unexpected) consequence of Climate Change. It seems great for the ducks – “It’s like Paradise. No more migrating – You never have to leave.” For the neighborhood and the Over-the-Hedge gang – the Ducks are (or will soon be) not-so-welcome guests.

Are they just too lazy to do it?

1) Those are domestic geese.

2) I prefer ducks. Less fatty.

It was so bad in Denver that they started culling the geese – and using them to provide meat for the poor.

Until the animal cruelty types set in.

And as a rule, I tend to side with the animal cruelty types.

(Against animal cruelty, that is. But I don’t know what to say or do about the geese problem)

(1993 – North Bay, Ontario, Lake Nippising: The Canadian Geese problem there was so bad that locals did not want anybody feeding them – even Canadians wanted the geese to go away. And yes, you really had to watch where you stepped there, too)

Those geese ain’t moving a muscle.

When you cannot hunt them they tend to take up residence; gaggles of geese roam the rural and semi rural areas of NJ and have for years.

Just call George. I bet HE could get them to move…

Bring in a few peregrines. The geese will soon find alternate places.

Talk about “unwelcome immigration”!

They must be pooped from all of that non-migration.

I can send RJ and company plenty of great recipes for duck and goose.

There’s a reason that they call those birds ‘foul’.

My dad’s ducks are still here even though the pond is frozen. Domestic ones don’t bother to migrate if they know they’ve got food and shelter available

Dang flying psychopaths have already taken over our model pond in S. Carolina. Place is a minefield.

The Canadian Geese rarely leave southern Michigan anymore. The town had to outlaw feeding them as they were making a real mess of the parks.

Geese rule! No seriously. They will take over, if they arrive en masse .

Where I used to work (about 15 years ago), we had a pretty bad Canada geese problem. One morning I counted 125+ geese just around our building. There about 20 or so families. Some with 4-5 goslings, some with up to 8. Not sure what the building management did, but they finally managed to get them to remove themselves. It was pretty bad for a while.

I had a friend describe geese as flying carp.
