Reminds me of the story of the city slicker who stopped and asked a local old timer for directions. He started the conversation with, “Have you lived here all your life?” the response was, “Not yet.”

Back in the real world, when I was stationed in Japan, I bought a road map that was printed in both English and Kanji. One night while lost, I stopped at a gas station and played “pointy talkie” with the attendant. He grabbed me by the arm, pulled me to the center of the road, pointed and said, “Go – straight – ahead.” I domo arigato’ed him and was on my way.

Dry sense of humor? Sawdusty.

When I was a kid and we lived in the city, the family went on a “Sunday drive” in the country. (Remember when that was a thing?)

My dad, slightly lost, pulled over and asked a farmer for directions. The farmer, with a straight face, said, “Continue that way, and turn left a half mile before you can see the water tower.”

This is remotely funny.

Like he has a choice.
