It’s funny that Jeremy in the ‘Zits’ ‘toon is getting his mother’s reaction to his dirty sox at the same time that this ’toon is running a similar theme…
In 7th grade Home Ec we made gym bags, we had to take our clothes home and wash them every Friday. The teacher inspected them before we dressed to make sure they were clean. Now it’s probably invasion of privacy.
It is a standard comic routine to lock a nerdy student in his locker, how many went to school with lockers that big.? Looking at this strip the locker looks to be 6’ high . Most of my school lockers were more like 3’ high-there were be two rows of lockers.
I can’t even conceive of the concept of two lockers per person.
With 2500 students, every hallway was lined with lockers. Each of us had our locker all year. [Next year you hoped to be in a different locker in a different hallway – I have no idea if the students who ‘were kept back a year’ could get their same locker back.]
The gym locker room was big enough for a large class of students, with more lockers than students. I don’t remember, but I’m guessing twice as many lockers. Depending on the year, I might need it 1, 2, or 3 days a week for 1 hour. If somebody in the next hour found clothes in a locker they’d either go to the next locker, dump them, or report them, depending on the personality.
I just can’t imagine the boys locker room being big enough to hold 1500 lockers! But the bullies would have loved it: no way to patrol all that space, and plenty of corners to mistreat weaker kids in.

Shouldn’t her gym clothes be in her gym locker.

My gawd….Liz SHOULD be so embarrassed! She acted cool and flippant at people recoiling at her nasty-smelling locker.

Better hurry. The paint is starting to peel off the locker door!

I wonder…when this strip has run its course, will it go back to the beginning again, when Michael was 6 and Lizzie was 1?

“Gymnasium” comes from the Ancient Greek word “gymnós”, meaning “naked”.

I think disposal would be more practical. Now, the locker itself is a different matter.

As a fellow female, I was way more fastidious than old Liz here.

Truthfully, I never expected that to be an issue from her.

Since when do you put your clothes in your school locker get to the gym room and let the girs deal with it

When I was in high school, we didn’t have gym lockers, only our regular locker.
