Walked to service station in Richmond Virginia to borrow a container for water and a screwdriver to fix a blown heater hose. The owner wouldn’t hardly give us the time of day, til I gave him some money. One coin happened to be a nickel with a beaver on it, which he examined closely and said “You guys from Canada?” Suddenly his whole attitude changed. Apparently the city had recently gotten a junior hockey team, and he was right into it.

In 2015 I got a wheat penny out of change. It was a 1909, the first year they were minted.

America developed the debit card chip security but was the last to implement it. Same with dollar bills and the penny, still in use while other countries are now coins and larger denominations are tamper resistant poly.

I found a pot of gold when someone gave me a nickel made of copper, thinking it was a penny. I sold it to a collector for $100, making a profit of 999900%.

I have my coin collecting books from the 50s. In one book all that is missing are the Liberty Head nickel, dime and quarter. The Morgan and Peace silver dollar spaces are filled, and I have a couple loose ones, too. They may be worth something, but with the wear they show from being used, are probably not worth a lot.

Serious luck is finding one out in the middle of the mall parking lot.
