I still have the one my (ex)boyfriend made for me when I was in the hospital 20 years ago.

I can see Wilberforce at Brutus age have the same conversation with his son/daughter.

I’ve still got a box of cassettes.

It’s how you made copies of your records. Kidding aside, you can still buy brand new cassette players and recorders. They are hardly obsolete.

I still have a walkman tape player.

I have three drawers full of cassettes that I still listen to.

Don’t get him started on his collection of 78s, 33s and 45s!!

Old tech if my Memorex serves me correctly.

Oh the days of yore! Sitting with a blank cassette it the recorder and the mic in front of the radio speaker. Waiting for your favorite song to be played so you can push both play and record buttons at the same time. Then when you played back, you could always hear the sound of the buttons being pushed. LOL!

Back when we watched television by gaslight …

Absolutely!

It’s fun to explain our growing up stories of technologies to the younger generations. It’s not only a History lesson but a lesson in life on how ideas develop, evolve and hopefully improve. It does dates us and makes us seem “real old” to them. However, it WILL bring a smile and a happy memory to Wilberforce when HE answers the same questions posed by his children to him…….

I’m thinking Wilberforce is smarter than Dad Brutus. Unlikely to work for likes of a Rancid W. Veeblefester – I hope.

Hey Brutus, if the kid doesn’t know what a tape recorder is, don’t ever show him a photo of a “rotary phone” !!!

For me, my music progression was 78, 45, LP, reel to reel, thankfully skipped 8-track, cassette, CD, Mp3 and now satellite radio.

It’s like a record player but you didn’t see records strung out along the major highways.

Knowing Brutus, it was probably a Scotch Tape recorder…
