Many years ago there was a pond and water lily greenhouse I used to frequent that had a large talking pet crow that they kept in the lobby area. Visitors would say “Caw Caw” to it all the time. After a bit of that it would repeat, in a very human inflection, Caw Caw right back at them.

There was a B.C. strip once where Thor (I think) was showing his talking bird to Peter. “Bird, what do you think of my friend Peter?” Bird – “Cheep!”

This cartoon has gone to the birds.
