It doesn’t seem to me that the cop cams have done much to prevent wrong doing, but they are doing a pretty good job of proving it. Mission accomplished.
Sounds like the cop that gave my husband a ticket when he stopped at a stop sign saying: “If I wasn’t here you wouldn’t have stopped.” That was when we had a very old car.
I was driving in Santa Barbara a little after 10 pm when I made a right turn onto State Street. A police car pulled me over. The officer looked at me and my companion and asked if I had been drinking.
“No, I don’t drink. Why did you pull me over?”
“You went through a red light back there.”
“I’m pretty sure that goes to flashing yellow at 10 pm.”
He looked up for a moment, looked back at the light, put away his pad and said, “Well, you just be more careful in the future.”
Fortunately, dash cams, and body cams also clear false accusations against the police. An officer here was falsely accused of something, because the video posted by a spectator was edited to be totally one-sided, but, the body cam showed the incident in its entirety, and showed that the important parts were edited out of the spectator’s video.

Same Park Ranger that gave Bruce Springsteen a drunk driving ticket. .02 blood alcohol content (.08 is when you’re drunk.) Springsteen got the ticket.

Let’s see. Resisting a police officer, not wearing a seatbelt. Step out of the car…
