Any and EVERY tactic to slow things down so they can claim that they’re trying to save money and do the right thing. It’s true, at least that it’s a right thing. But it’s dead wrong.
The worst part is “Dick” Johnson left after making them do so. If he wanted it read, he should be made to sit there and listen to it. After all, I’m sure he asked because he is reading impaired (aka illiterate).
Please join me in a minute of silence for the Wisconsin voters who think Johnson is the cat’s pajamas. Being so unencumbered by the thought process is a burden no one should have to carry.
Seems a simple solution would be to exempt the folk those senators represent from the benifits. Save a pot full of money if you only had to support those states that favored aid. Joe wants to help all of America.. but if they don’t want it, why force it.
And it BACKFIRED on him spectacularly, as a Democratic Senator made a motion to reduce the debate time from 20 hours to 3 hours, which was PASSED by a majority of the Senators present… because most of the Republicans had left.
Nothing says they had to read it solo. I don’t know why they didn’t just divide the text into say five equal parts and read them simultaneously. It would make just as much sense and go five times faster.
Article I, section 5 of the United States Constitution provides that “Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member.” Among the ways in which the Senate has disciplined its members is censure, sometimes referred to as condemnation or denouncement. Censure is a formal statement of disapproval in the form of a resolution that is adopted by majority vote. The term “censure” is not found in the Constitution, and the word does not have to appear in the resolution. A censure does not remove a senator from office nor does it deny to a senator his or her rights or privileges. Since 1789 the Senate has censured nine of its members for conduct that senators determined to be inappropriate or detrimental to the Senate.

Then we’ll read a 1000 page excuse as to why Republican bills never bother with the National Debt.

I guess you think it would be better for them to pass the bill so they can find out what’s in it, like Pelosi proposed on Obamacare?

The Democrats should have had a recorded audio version made. Then everybody could have gone home while it played. . . . to the janitors.

Reminds me of Cruz reciting “Green Eggs And Ham”. Same stupidity, same kabuki theater, same waste of precious time.

If he wanted the whole thing read out loud, they should have made HIM do the reading. No breaks allowed.
