    I remember taking a trip down Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, careening from one pothole to the next, listening the the struts bottoming out, and not a single filling in a single mouth of the people in the car was intact. Then we saw the sign: BUMP AHEAD.

    Larger the diameter, smoother the ride. Smaller the diameter, more likely to fall in a hole.
