Time is of the essence. Who knows where the time goes? The time has come today. It’s the time of the season. The dark of night. The light of day. 24 hours a day. On the equator, hours of light and dark are roughly equivalent.

Well that’s a perfectly logical explanation, at least for the comics.

Actually an airliner when Flying high in the cold air shrinks an inch or so.

It is the Moon’s fault. Since we have lunatics running the Government. They can’t even agree what time it is.

Because you live on a planet with an axial tilt of about 23 1/2 decrees from the plane of the ecliptic.

I must be living a charmed life. All my days are 24 hours long.

I tried to explain this to my five year old granddaughter when she asked but a 23 degree tilt in the Earth axis didn’t make sense to her.

Good Question. Good Answer. Just not a good answer to this particular question.

I think the question should have been why is there longer daylight in the summer? However, it is actually true that the length of the solar day (the time between successive meridian transits of the sun at a particular place) is not a constant 24 hours through the year. This is why, for example, the earliest sunset of the year does not coincide with the winter solstice.

There is a Native American lesson that says only the government would think that by cutting a strip off the top of a blanket and sewing it on the bottom would make the blanket longer.

People, if you want more daylight, get up with the daylight, don’t worry about the clock, it is a man made construct.

I think they just seem shorter in winter because it’s so cold. :)

Finally, an answer to my life’s longest question. Wish I’d come up with that 50 years ago. I HATE winter. In Oregon.

As a former earth science teacher, I’ve heard a few strange ideas about this.
