Purely speculation at this point but I think Antonio knows that if Kenny continues to associate with him, it could be detrimental to the boy’s future.
One of my favorite things about this strip is that characters are not just one-note personalities. The good guys have flaws … the “bad” guys have redeeming qualities. People struggle, succeed, celebrate, fail and flounder. Robb really brings his creations to life – and it looks a lot like real life.
As the grandfather of a young girl who is trying to adjust to the disruptions of split up parents Kenny’s situation breaks my heart. All these conflicting emotions just aren’t fair.
If Shark was a good dad he would be a better person so his son could look up to him. Kenny wants to spend time with his real dad. What kind of dad would discourage that?

At least he’s honest.

It seems that Kenny’s real dad thinks his son deserves better than what he can offer.

He doesn’t want Kenny to get emotionally attached to him. It’s sad, but I get it.
